Newcastle United fans ridicule Steve Bruce's gloves off approach in Arsenal defeat

Newcastle United fans questioned the difference between Steve Bruce's approach and his previous methods after another loss.

The Magpies suffered a 3-0 defeat to Arsenal as they struggled to cope with a Gunners side that have renewed confidence with five wins in a row.

Arguably the most worrying thing was how Arsenal barely seemed to have to break a sweat to easy to victory.

It was Newcastle's ninth game without a win, with the result meaning they stay 15th in the table, seven points clear of safety, albeit having played a game more than 18th-placed Fulham.

After Bruce's claim that 'the gloves are off' after the defeat to Sheffield United, some fans questioned what had changed.

Bruce changed to a back four for the game, becoming the first manager in Newcastle's Premier League history to make eight changes for a game.

Whilst they held a below-par Arsenal side to 0-0 in the first half, they barely managed to lay a glove on the Gunners going forward.

In the second half, there was only one team in the game after Arsenal took the lead through Pierre-Emerick Aubamyeang in the 50th minute.

Bukayo Saka added a second 10 minutes later before Aubameyang round off the scoring with 13 minutes left.

The stats did not tell a great tale, with the Magpies managing just four shots at goal, one of which was on target.

Bruce opted to start Andy Carroll up front but the target man failed to get any service before being replaced.

The Magpies had 33 per cent possession in the game, making just 321 passes in comparison to Arsenal's 632.
