Newcastle United agree short-term extension with Inter Milan for Valentino Lazaro

Newcastle United have agreed on a loan extension with Valentino Lazaro to ensure he can play until the end of the Premier League campaign.

Chronicle Live understands that Newcastle and Inter Milan have held some dialogue and drawn up a new deal.

Lazaro originally set to remain on loan until June 30 but the club have now agreed on a short-term extension with the Austria international.

The new arrangement means Lazaro can now play in the remainder of the Premier League games in June and July and up until August 1 in the event Newcastle reach the FA Cup final.

There has been some suggestions that Lazaro will return to the San Siro after the season has ended and that Newcastle have not made a decision on a permanent move.

But Lazaro is thought to be open-minded about his next move and wants to at least show United what he can do in the next couple of months.

Lazaro has made five appearances and netted one goal, what proved to be the winner against West Bromwich Albion in the FA Cup, since joining from Inter last January.

Players aren't legally bound to extend deals to play in the remainder of the season and as reported yesterday Matty Longstaff is unlikely to sign a short-term deal unless there is a major U-turn on his contract talks.
