Newcastle set for second Kilmarnock raid as Bobby Wales targeted by Premier League big spenders

Newcastle United are considering a second raid on Kilmarnock with Bobby Wales very much in their sights.

The Magpies had the Scotland under-17 cap watched again this week as he created two goals against St Johnstone’s second string on Tuesday. Newcastle have had a string of reports from area scouts but it has now been ramped up a notch.

Wales is already highly-rated at Killie and has already been rewarded with a full-time contract until 2024. It would take a lucrative offer for the Ayrshire side to even consider cashing in on one of their rising stars although money will be little object for the big-spending Geordies. Newcastle are actively looking to strengthen their under-age and development squad and the 17-year-old striker is very much a live option. But Wales is also attracting interest from a number of other English clubs including Sheffield United.

The English Premier League giants raided Rugby Park in the summer to sign Charlie McArthur and are likely to make a move to unite him with Wales again. Eddie Howe's side have been exploring young talent north of the border and have also signed young keeper Jude Smith from East Fife.

This follows a theme of several Scottish starlets moving down south to further their career with Ben Doak excelling for Liverpool's youth side since making the switch from Celtic in the summer.
