Newcastle's shocking Match of the Day record revealed

Newcastle had the Premier League’s worst record for appearing first on Match of the Day this season.

The Magpies failed to make a single appearance in the first slot of Match of the Day’s running order over the course of the 2019/20 campaign.

They were the only club never to be shown first.

Burnley, Sheffield United and Wolves had the next worst records with only one appearance each.

Newcastle were shown last in the running order four times, which is the same number as Arsenal, Leicester, Sheffield United and Wolves.

Liverpool have been the programmers’ top choice across the whole of this season.

The league champions appeared first in the Match of the Day running order 14 times.

That’s followed by Manchester City with 10, Leicester City with seven, and then West Ham and Brighton with six each.

Brighton had the worst record when it comes to being shown last.

The Seagulls were last in the running order 11 times, with Norwich being shown in that slot 10 times, Watford eight and Crystal Palace seven.
