Clean offshore surf for today with some good waves to be had during the morning. Swell not quite lining up and tending to close out on low tide early but will improve as tide comes in. Swell from the SSE at 2m decreasing to 1.5m. Wind Light and variable North to N/W. Try the reef breaks first up off Merewether, Bar beach and Nobbys. Banks at Newcastle Beach, Cliff and Dixon on the mid tide. Burwood, Redhead and Frenchmans to the south. Samurai and Birubi to the north. Stay between the flags if swimming. Winds South to southwesterly 10 to 15 knots becoming variable about 10 knots in the morning. Seas 1 to 1.5 metres, decreasing below 1 metre during the morning. Swell Southerly 2 to 2.5 metres. Weather Partly cloudy. Caution Surf conditions in the afternoon and evening may be more powerful than they appear and are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as crossing bars by boat and rock fishing.
