WELLINGTON (Reuters) - Consumer confidence in New Zealand jumped in the fourth quarter after falling for most of the year, a survey showed on Tuesday.
The Westpac-McDermott Miller consumer confidence index climbed to 109.9 from 103.1 in the previous quarter. A reading above 100 indicates more optimists than pessimists.
Westpac economists said the rise cancelled out a drop over the past year and increased optimism was broad-based across the country, but particularly strong for households with higher incomes.
