New York Giants head coach breaks silence on Odell Beckham Jr after private meeting

New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll has revealed the team held a secret meeting with Odell Beckham Jr this week as the superstar wide receiver plots his return to the NFL.

Beckham Jr, who has been a free agent since leaving the LA Rams after winning the Super Bowl earlier in the year, has been linked with a number of teams throughout the league. A return to the Giants is one of the most likely options, but the Dallas Cowboys are considered the frontrunners.

As he nears a return to full fitness after his ACL injury, Beckham Jr is meeting with prospective teams as he nears a decision. And according to Daboll, the Giants met with him this week.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of this weekend's game against the Washington Commanders, Daboll remained coy over the team's plans for Beckham Jr.

He said: "I know you guys will have a lot of questions about Odell, here's what I'll say. We had dinner with him last night [Thursday], a good visit, and other than that I have nothing else to add. I'm focusing on Washington. We had a good dinner. Great steak."

Beckham Jr has remained quiet over his plans, but hasn't been shy about the fact he's been plane-hopping this week and meeting teams across America.

Brian Daboll has admitted the New York Giants met with Odell Beckham Jr (SNY)

Despite the Cowboys seeming like they're the most likely destination for the 30-year-old, SNY reporter Connor Hughes believes Beckham Jr wants to re-join the Giants. He said: "For some reason, it feels like there is something drawing Odell and the Giants together. There is something that supersedes all of that.

"Sterling Shephard was in the Giants locker room FaceTiming Odell Beckham Jr. Saquan Barkley has said so many times he doesn't need to tweet Beckham, both he and Shepherd have a direct line to him. Maybe it's the connection to those two that is drawing Beckham back to New York. Maybe it's the fact he feels like he has unfinished business. Maybe it's the adoration he had for the fans.

Whatever it is, for whatever reason, you can't cross the Giants off the list of potential teams just yet, because something just feels like Beckham really does want New York as much as New York wants Beckham."
