TEAM NEEDS

Quarterback

The Giants have needed to find Eli Manning’s successor for years now and it still remains a need. Manning has fallen off quite a bit recently and the Giants’ record has suffered the past couple of seasons. They would be wise to address this need with one of their early picks and really find a QB that they can develop to be their long-term answer.

Edge Defender

The Giants need to add more of a pass rush to bolster their defense. After trading away defensive end Oliver Vernon, there is a gaping void left on the defense where he once played. Adding a young and explosive pass rusher in the first round or two would go a long way towards improving their defense.

Offensive Tackle

The Giants are finally making the right steps towards improving their offensive line. After signing Nate Solder and drafting Will Hernandez last offseason, the Giants were able to go out and land Kevin Zeitler through trade this offseason. Still, there is a massive whole at right tackle. Luckily this draft class is loaded in terms of offensive tackle talent so the Giants should be able to find a solid player to plug in at that spot.

Linebacker

The Giants just need to add quality players to their defense. Alec Ogletree and BJ Goodson are both below average players who could be replaced by contributors through the draft. Adding a fast and athletic centerpiece to the defense would help get the struggling group back on track.

Wide Receiver

Outside of Golden Tate and Sterling Shepard, the Giants receiving core is in rough shape after the Odell Beckham Jr trade. Adding a third option who can play on the outside and allow Shepard to take reps in the slot would be wise. If Eli Manning truly still is their quarterback, they must surround him with as many playmakers as possible.

TOP TARGETS

Dwayne Haskins | QB | Ohio State

The number one trait that the Giants should be looking for in their next quarterback is a player who can distribute the ball to their talented playmakers on offense. Haskins may not be the best prospect but he understands how to get the ball out quickly. Adding him to an offense with Saquon Barkley, Evan Engram, and Golden Tate would be a great fit.

Montez Sweat | EDGE | Mississippi State

The Giants need an athletic pass rusher and Sweat fits that bill. A long and powerful player, Sweat turned heads at the combine by running the fastest 40 time for defensive ends in the event’s history. Add in that he looked really good at the Senior Bowl and has excellent film and he would fit in well with the Giants’ defense.

Cody Ford | OT | Oklahoma

Regardless of who the Giants play at QB in 2019, they need more help on the offensive line. Adding the talented Ford out of Oklahoma would be one step closer into completing the group. He is an athletic lineman who excels in pass protection. Adding him to the group would put four above average lineman protecting the Giants’ quarterback which is a vast improvement from just a few years ago.
