New York DB Syair Torrence commits to Michigan State football

Michigan State has officially picked up their second commitment of the weekend, picking up a pledge from New York defensive back Syair Torrence. Torrence was originally committed to his hometown school, Syracuse, but MSU’s new cornerbacks coach Jim Salgado was able to earn his first recruiting win on the trail by flipping the defensive back into the green and white.

Torrence, a native of Syracuse, New York, attends Christian Brothers Academy. He is ranked as a 3-star prospect and the No. 658 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class, as well as the No. 5 player in the state of New York.

While flipping him from Syracuse, the Spartans beat out pushes from Boston College, Pitt and Rutgers for Torrence’s commitment.

Torrence joins Jaylen Thompson, AJ Dennis, Logan Bennett, Reggie Powers, Camren Campbell and Anthony Carrie in Michigan State’s 2024 recruiting class.
