The PWHL is a massive opportunity for women’s hockey which has been split apart by two separate entities: The Premiere Hockey Federation and the Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association.

In June, the PWHL -- which is largely backed by Los Angeles Dodgers owner Mark Walter and his wife Kimbra -- bought out the PHF then negotiated a new Collective Bargaining Agreement with the PWHPA in order to bring the top players into the fold.

More Women’s Sports:

The league will launch as a single entity as all teams will be owned by the PWHL instead of separate owners, which is how many of the major professional sports leagues currently operate. Notable board members include LA Dodgers President and CEO Stan Kasten and tennis legend Billie Jean King.

SBJ reports that the league will also be featured in many of the NHL’s events throughout the 2023-24 season.
