A Beijing-based New York Times researcher, Zhao Yan, who has spent 22 months in custody accused of disclosing state secrets, must stay in jail. Though he was expected to go on trial this week the Chinese authorities cancelled the hearing and have set no new date. Zhao and the paper deny the charges. (Via International Herald Tribune)
