A Doonfoot care home has held an official opening ceremony – giving guests the opportunity to see the interior of the facility and meet its specialist care team.
Greenan Manor, operated by Meallmore Ltd, was officially opened by Siobhian Brown MSP.
Ms Brown joined residents, staff and guests for the celebrations and unveiled a commemorative plaque to mark the official opening of the care home.
A number of activities were held throughout the day, including a string trio, a magical performance from a local magician and plenty of canapés and drinks.
Ms Brown gave a speech to mark the home’s official opening alongside Meallmore managing director Gerry Hennessey.
The state-of-the-art care home opened to residents in January.
With changes to Covid-19 restrictions, the home was able to safely celebrate its belated opening ceremony.
Greenan Mano r is led by care home manager and experienced nurse, Elaine Hughes, who is well established in the care industry with over a decade of experience.
She said: “2021 has been a challenging year for everyone. We opened our doors back in January but we were unable to mark the occasion due to government lockdown restrictions.
“Fast-forward nearly a year later and we are incredibly grateful to have celebrated our belated opening.
“The event was a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase our home to the local community.
“It was a great day, and we would like to extend our thanks to Siobhian Brown MSP for officially opening the home.”
Ms Brown added: “The official opening of Greenan Manor was a fantastic event, celebrating the vital service the care home provides to the local community in Doonfoot.
“Everyone should feel immensely proud of all their hard work over the past year, and I am honoured to have played a part in the official opening of the home.”
Mr Hennessey commented: “Our staff have truly gone above and beyond to deliver an exceptionally high standard of care for our residents at Greenan Manor, and we are thrilled to recognise this with the home’s official opening.
“We had a fantastic day of celebrations, and we would like to thank Siobhian Brown MSP for marking the occasion by opening the home.”
Greenan Manor provides care for its residents, including those living with dementia. It features 52 fully-furnished en-suite bedrooms.
Meallmore Ltd recently achieved the prestigious Investors in People (IIP) Gold Accreditation which recognises its commitment to its people.
