New Revolution Exeter bar set to create 75 local jobs

National bar chain Revolution is set to open a new venue in Exeter which it has said will create 75 local jobs.

Operator Revolution Bars Group has made an initial investment of £2m into the three-storey, Grade II-listed building on Queen Street in the city centre.

The hospitality firm said the new 720 people capacity bar would provide a “significant boost” to the local economy when it opens later in June, ahead of the summer and the return of university students in September.

The group said the building had been re-vamped to include three bar areas, dancefloor and booth seating. The bar and kitchen will operate seven days a week, with the venue closing at 2am on four nights from Wednesday through to Saturday.

General manager of the new Revolution Exeter site Lili Venning said: “We’re so excited to be coming to Exeter and can’t wait to throw open the doors and welcome in guests to our brand new venue. We’ve got all your favourite Revolution cocktails and vodkas on offer, a menu of award-winning, flavoursome food and some great events and parties in the pipeline.”

Revolution Bars Group runs a portfolio of four brands that also includes Revolución de Cuba across 69 UK venues, including already established Devon sites in Plymouth and Torquay.

In March, the firm said the return of students and office workers had helped sales rebound, despite the recent spread of the Omicron variant of coronavirus at the end of last year.

It reported revenues more than tripled to £74.1m over the six months to January 1, compared with the same period a year earlier, but remained below the same period two years earlier, before the pandemic struck.

Revolution posted a pre-tax profit of £4.3m for the period, from a £17.7m loss a year earlier.

The North West headquartered company was founded in 1991 and employs around 3,000 staff.
