New Radio 2 line-up revealed after departure of stars Steve Wright and Vanessa Feltz

A new Radio 2 line-up been revealed in a huge shake-up at the BBC station. It comes after the departure of major stars including fans' favourite Steve Wright.

Paul O'Grady announced he was leaving his show in August after 14 years with the channel. And Celebrity Big Brother star Feltz also quit, leaving the Radio 2 Early Breakfast and her BBC Radio London Breakfast shows after nearly 20 years.

As reported by the Mirror, former Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills will launch his new weekday afternoon slot on Halloween, taking over from Wright, who broadcast his final Steve Wright in the Afternoon show last week. Ahead of his first show, Mills, 49, said he's looking forward to a "brand new era" in his "new home".

He said: "In an attempt to scare me even more, the bosses have decided my very first show is on Halloween! Join me every day for the best music and let’s switch off from the world for a couple of hours and have a laugh.”

Meanwhile Owain Wyn Evans has been announced as the replacement for Feltz on the Early Breakfast Show. It will be broadcast from the BBC Cymru Wales broadcast centre in Cardiff and is the first Radio 2 show to move out of London.

A familiar voice on Radio Cymru and a TV and radio presenter for more than 20 years, he described the job as "a dream come true". He said: “When I asked my parents for a pair of turntables and a mixing desk from a DJ shop in Llanelli when I was 13 I never allowed myself to dream that one day I'd have my own show on Radio 2!

“I can’t wait to help kick start the day on Early Breakfast live from Cardiff. Bore da dahlings as we say in Wales!”

Craig Charles' House Party - which aired on Saturdays from 10pm to midnight – was also axed after being presented by the Red Dwarf star since 2014. Scissor Sisters’ Ana Matronic’s early hours Sunday show Dance Devotion and Dr Rangan Chatterjee’s late-night Sunday show were also scrapped in the scheduling shake-up at the Beeb.
