New opening date revealed for Cross Gates Wetherspoon pub

A new opening date for a highly-anticipated JD Wetherpoon pub has been revealed.

Last week, we brought you news of the original opening date for the Charles Henry Roe, in Cross Gates, being ditched because of delays finishing the new establishment.

This is because contractor Sanderson Construction went into administration.

The Castleford-based company had previously worked with the bar chain on their establishments at Heathrow Terminal 5 and St Pancras station in London.

A Spoons spokesperson has confirmed to us the new bar will now be opening on Tuesday, March 24.

What appears to be an unofficial launch party for the venue is also scheduled to be happening on Tuesday, April 7. We know this thanks to an event listed on Facebook.

For those of you who can't wait for it to open we have had a sneak peek at some CGI images of the plans for the Charles Henry Roe to how the interior will appear.

JD Wetherspoon faced a long battle with Leeds City Council in its discussions to open the Cross Gates pub.

We'll bring you more information on the new opening when we get it.
