New mindfulness guide helps you destress before you eat

Uber Eats has launched a mindfulness audio guide, Mindful Mouthful, to help people take a moment to reset and reflect before they sit down to eat - as half of us say we have felt very stressed or burnt out in the past month. People are worrying about money, work, health and negative news headlines according to a new study.

Two-fifths of those surveyed struggle to switch off when they finish work, with 74% admitting to engaging in mindless eating habits such as eating standing up and consuming food straight from the fridge. 81% admit to regularly scrolling on their phone while eating, whilst 68% of millennials say they often continue to work whilst eating.

Launched during International Stress Awareness Week, Mindful Mouthful has been designed by mindfulness guru Luke Doherty, who helps sporting stars such as Marcus Smith use meditative practices to help deal with high pressure moments. It’s narrated by radio DJ Roman Kemp, who has been vocal on his use of mindfulness as one tool which improves his mental wellbeing.

Lasting ten minutes, Roman takes listeners through a meditative session which aims to promote tuning into your surroundings, shutting out life’s stresses, and enjoying some downtime, ahead of a food delivery arriving on your doorstep.

Roman said: “Anyone who knows me knows I’m passionate about mindfulness - it’s a great tool to help you navigate the chaos of daily life and stay present in the moment. So I’m really pleased to be teaming up with Uber Eats to launch the Mindful Mouthful audio guide - I’m often guilty of scrolling on my phone or answering emails whilst I eat, but focusing on your food is really important to help you decompress after a busy day, but also make sure you’re enjoying every bite. Next time you’re ordering in, why not have a listen.”

Matthew Price, General Manager Uber Eats UK & Ireland, said: “We live in a society that encourages us to go, go, go. Mindful Mouthful has been created to help everyone embrace the art of doing less…don’t feel guilty about taking a moment for yourself, because that’s important too. And what better time to reset than when you’re waiting for your Uber Eats to arrive.”

Mindful Mouthful is available on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music.
