Plans are afoot for a new Lidl store at Seafield Retail Park near Leith.
Customers can look forward to an in-store bakery, modern retail facilities and parking - if current plans get the go-ahead.
The additional outlet will also create 35 new full and part-time jobs.
It comes after the supermarket giant announced plans to give away £10,000 worth of shopping in stores across the country this coming weekend.
The special giveaway has been organised to mark the opening of their 100th Scottish shop, at North End Park in Cowdenbeath.
Gordon Rafferty, Head of Property - Scotland, Lidl GB said: “We are extremely pleased to bring forward our plans for Seafield Retail Park in Edinburgh.
“Our new store will help us achieve our ambition of increasing our footprint in Edinburgh and will serve the nearby communities in Craigentinny and Restalrig.
“We have submitted our application and are keen to inform local residents and engage with key stakeholders regarding our proposals. We welcome the views and observations and are looking forward to meeting local residents and other stakeholders at our upcoming Public Information Days.”
The public are invited to consultation sessions on Wednesday January 29 (3pm-7pm) and Thursday January 30 (3pm-6pm) at The Ripple Project in Restalrig.
Lidl team members will be available to answer any quires on the final design and layout directly.
