New Kids on the Block react after Dallas Mavericks win postpones their concert

DALLAS — For fans of The New Kids on the Block, the news that the group’s concert is happening a night later was certainly not their idea of “The Right Stuff.”

The Dallas Mavericks’ Game 7 rout of the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Playoffs means the team will need the use of the American Airlines Center in Dallas on Sunday night to play the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference finals.

The concert has been moved to Monday with all tickets still good for the new night.

The fans aren’t overjoyed, but the New Kids are OK with it.

“Congrats to the Dallas Mavericks on tonight’s win!” the group posted on social media Sunday night. “We cannot wait to bring the mixtape tour to Dallas and keep this party going.”

The Dallas show would have been the group’s fifth consecutive night of performing. Now ranging in ages from 48 to 52, the band’s members — Jonathan Knight, Jordan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg and Danny Wood — can probably use an extra day’s rest.

Of course, this would have gone over better back in 1985 when the group was formed and the boy band’s legion of fans was in their teens. Today, those “Blockheads” have children graduating from high school or college and can’t make Monday’s show.

As one commenter on the group’s Instagram post said: “Worst. News. Ever. My son graduates high school the 23!!!! (crying emojis) There goes my ticket.”

Another commenter suggested Donnie, Danny, Joey, Jon and Jordan “show up to Wahlburgers in Frisco on Sunday night!!!”
