New ITV drama: What is replacing Liar and The Trouble with Maggie Cole as both series end?

For the last few weeks viewers have been gripped by two, very different, ITV dramas.

Monday nights at 9pm have had people on the edge of their seats trying to work out who killed Andrew Earlham, played by Welsh actor Ioan Gruffudd, in the thriller Liar.

Meanwhile, Wednesdays have seen the nation settle down at 9pm into Dawn French's comedy drama, The Trouble with Maggie Cole.

But with both series ending this week and the television guide changing amid the coronavirus crisis many are wondering what shows will be replacing the 9pm slots.

Here's everything we know.

Monday 9pm

Easter Monday will see the first episode of a new three-part drama called Quiz.

Quiz will show the events of the cheating scandal that engulfed Who Wants to be a Millionaire.

The fact-based drama directed by Stephen Frears, stars Matthew Macfadyen, Sian Clifford and Mark Bonnar, with Welsh actor Michael Sheen as Chris Tarrant.

However, the three episodes will run over Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in the same week.

The following Monday, which is April 20, ITV will air a repeat of the two-part psychological thriller, A Mother’s Son, according to Radio Times.

The show stars Hermione Norris, Martin Clunes, Paul McGann and Alexander Arnold.

Wednesday 9pm

Next Wednesday will see the three-part series, Quiz, come to an end at 9pm.

It's not yet been revealed what will fill the slot thereafter.

However, there's plenty of television airing over the Easter bank holiday weekend.

Britain's Got Talent will return on Saturday at 8pm with the auditions while The Good Karma Hospital and Belgravia continue on Sunday.
