New iPhone 13 Instagram scam warning as reports of fraud attempts rise

Instagram users across the UK are being urged to be wary of a new scam doing the rounds, where users are told they have won an iPhone 13.

It seems to be affecting hundreds of people as Instagram users flock to Twitter to warn others.

The scam is mainly targeting users in the comments section of the image sharing app, telling users that they've won a brand new iPhone 13 Max Pro phone.

The comment then urges the user to follow an account in order to make contact with the organisers of the giveaway.

The catch, of course, being that 99% of the 'winners' never actually entered any giveaway.

One person wrote on Twitter: "Where do i pick up the iPhone 13 I’ve just won on Instagram then?"

Another asked: "Has anyone else 'won' 5+ iPhone 13s today on Instagram?"

"Part of me believes that I have indeed won an Instagram competition to win an iPhone that I didn’t enter" laughed a third.

Glasgow Live has contacted Instagram for comment.
