Following the success of "Girls", US producer Lena Dunham introduced "Industry," a new series that explores the world of finance, where young men and women search for their identity in this field, AFP reported.
The work features Harper, Jasmin, Gus and many others, who have a few months to prove their worth at the London-based Pierpoint & Co, one of the world's most prestigious financial firms.
The series' trailer, which HBO Has started broadcasting on Monday in the US reminds the spectators of many works that explore the same issue.
The "Wall Street" movie in its two parts and "The Wolf of Wall Street," in addition to series including "Billions" or "Black Monday", have already approached this theme but from different perspectives.
But Industry, written by Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, who previously worked in finance, add a deep human dimension to the series.
"Lena Dunham, producer of HBO's "Girls" (2012-2017), which raised the voice of an entire generation, has been a huge inspiration in our writing," Mickey Down explained in an interview with the Knockturnal website.
The two writers share with Lena Dunham her ability to draw an accurate image of Gen Z, the generation of young adults with their different fears and lifestyles.
The new eight-episode series revolves around the crazy life of people working in finance, from drug abuse to unprotected sexual affairs and alcoholism. However, according to Mickey Down, the producers have sought to depict a broader scene, by highlighting the unique moments these men and women live in their first months in this diverse world.
