New horror series earns rave reviews and perfect Rotten Tomatoes score

  • Oscar-winning director Guillermo Del Toro has highly praised the new Apple TV+ horror-comedy series, Widow's Bay, calling it potentially "the best streaming series in a long time" and a "mesmerizing act of narrative prestidigitation in Horror."
  • The 10-episode series stars Matthew Rhys as a New England mayor attempting to boost tourism on his island, which locals believe is cursed, with a cast also including Dale Dickey and Stephen Root.
  • Widow's Bay has received widespread critical acclaim, achieving a perfect 100 per cent score on Rotten Tomatoes, with reviewers highlighting its unique blend of comedy and horror.
  • Critics have lauded Rhys's "top-notch physical comedy" and the show's "singular" nature, describing it as an "intriguingly creepy, oddly cozy" and "neat, off-beat offering."
  • The first seven episodes of the series are currently available for streaming on Apple TV+, with new episodes being released every Wednesday until June 17.
