New horror film The Outwaters is so terrifying people are leaving cinema to be sick

A recently released horror film has shocked viewers to such an extent that people have left the screening in order to be sick.

The movie, The Outwaters, came out just over three weeks ago, and those watching it are understood to have been affected by its visuals and sounds.

It is understood that the film has made Apple Watch heart rate monitors go off the scales and also caused anxiety breakdowns during its one hour and 40 minute runtime.

As per the movie synopsis, the movie sees “an excursion to the Mojave Desert turning creepy when a group of campers starts to experience unexplained sounds, vibrations and unnatural animal behaviour, the Mirror reports.

“Then one night everything changes, sending the foursome on a mind-bending trip through terror.”

Viewers of the movie that was directed by Robbie Banfitch have taken to social media to share their experience of enduring the traumatic film.

“The Outwaters is the first film to give me nightmares since childhood,” one viewer bravely admitted, while another added that they’re still “processing” the movie.

“I am not sure if it worked for me,” they wrote.

Meanwhile, someone else admitted: "The sound made me so uncomfortably dizzy that I had to leave the theatre to vomit. This never happened to me before.

"It's more disturbing than scary if that makes any sense,” added another.

But despite viewers being unable to stomach the film at times, the film has garnered an impressive 71 per cent critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes, whilst it’s also earned a healthy 60 per cent rating from the audience on the site.

In fact, Noel Murray from the Los Angeles Times wrote of the movie: “Some may find all this tedious or confusing, but there’s an admirable integrity to Banfitch’s approach. The Outwaters genuinely feels like a first-person perspective on the end of the world.

“Just don’t forget your anti-nausea tablets if you’re planning on watching the movie.”
