A new headteacher has been appointed at Winchburgh Primary School and Early Learning Centre.
Ian Harvey has over 20 years of primary teaching experience since coming to West Lothian as a student teacher after retraining from his previous role as a surveyor.
Mr Harvey taught in Edinburgh for a number of years, gaining experience in all areas of nursery and primary school.
He moved to West Lothian in 2008 and has served in a number of senior school leadership roles, joining Winchburgh on secondment before being appointed as permanent headteacher.
In addition to his degree and primary teaching qualification Ian also achieved his Scottish qualification for headship post graduate diploma and is currently part of the Scottish College for Educational Leadership’s excellence in headship programme.

He said: “I have been made to feel very welcome by the pupils, parents/carers and staff at Winchburgh since joining in May 2018.
“Winchburgh is a rapidly growing, exciting and developing community which I am now privileged to serve as the substantive headteacher.
“It has been a pleasure starting to get to know the families of our fantastic school over the past few months and I very much look forward to leading our whole school community in the exciting times ahead.
“I will continue to work with every one of our learners, staff, parents/carers and the wider community to ensure our school provides the very best learning experiences for every learner.”
Executive councillor for education David Dodds said: “Congratulations to Ian Harvey on his permanent appointment.
“Mr Harvey has the right mix of skills and experience to lead the school as it continues to grow and prosper along with the rest of the Winchburgh community.”
