Genesis is turning up the heat on its electric GV60 SUV, with the long-awaited new GV60 Magma set to cost from £75,915 when UK order books open in July.
The GV60 Magma is the first high-performance model from Hyundai’s luxury brand and marks the start of a new line of quicker, sharper Genesis cars. It takes the familiar all-electric GV60 and adds more power, a lower and wider stance, bigger brakes, bucket seats and a soundtrack designed to make an electric car feel a little more dramatic from behind the wheel.
Power comes from two electric motors producing up to 641bhp and 790Nm of torque, fed by an 84kWh battery. Genesis says that is enough to send the GV60 Magma from 0-62mph in 3.4 seconds and on to a top speed of 164mph.
When the battery needs topping up, a rapid charger can take it from 10 to 80 per cent in a claimed 18 minutes. Genesis also quotes a full-charge driving range of up to 278 miles.
Unlike some performance cars with lengthy options lists, the GV60 Magma will be offered in one generously equipped version. Buyers will be able to choose from nine exterior colours, while inside there is a choice of Magma Orange or Ash White contrast stitching on the black interior.
The changes are not just hidden underneath. The Magma sits 20mm lower than the regular GV60, with an exclusive rear bumper design, a rear wing spoiler and 21-inch forged alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli tyres. Behind them sit uprated four-piston brake callipers with large, 400mm front brake discs.
Inside, Genesis has fitted 10-way electrically adjustable bucket seats finished in artificial suede, along with aluminium trim and a special Magma steering wheel. A Magma button gives the driver access to the car’s different driving settings, including Sprint and GT modes.
There is also an electric sound system, which gives the car an artificial engine-style note inside and outside, while the dashboard is dominated by a 27-inch panoramic display that combines the driver information and infotainment screens into one housing.
Genesis says the new model is intended to add performance to the comfort and luxury already associated with the GV60, rather than simply chase headline numbers.
Ben Sargeant, director of Genesis and customer strategy at Genesis Motor UK, said: “GV60 Magma marks a new chapter for Genesis. It embodies everything Genesis stands for: bold design, advanced technology, and a new interpretation of luxury performance.”
The GV60 Magma uses Hyundai Group’s electric car technology also found in the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and the newer Hyundai Ioniq 6 N, which was named 2026 World Performance Car of the Year.
With Genesis now entering the high-performance electric car market, the GV60 Magma will face a growing line-up of seriously quick premium EVs when customer orders begin this summer.
