Sunshine Coast police are investigating new fires in bushland at Peregian Springs, two years after a major blaze devastated the area and became one of the nation's first Black Summer bushfires.
The inferno on September 9, 2019, gutted a home and forced thousands of people to evacuate. Now more recent fires have residents rattled again.
Just over a fortnight ago, fire crews were called to Scribbly Gum Circuit after residents reported a chair had been set alight in nearby bushland.
Five days later, crews were called to another small blaze near Scribbly Gum Circuit and Brindabella Avenue but it had been extinguished before they arrived.
Police have confirmed they are investigating the incidents.
"Investigations into the matter are ongoing."
Teens charged over 2019 blaze
The fresh fires were sparked just over a kilometre from where two teenagers are accused of lighting the devastating 2019 bushfire.
A 14-year-old Peregian Springs boy and a 15-year-old Coolum Beach girl have been charged with endangering particular property by fire.
Police allege they were among a group of juveniles who gathered in bushland off Koel Circuit when a fire was deliberately lit.
It is not known whether the teens' matter has been finalised due to publication restrictions in the Children's Court.
Within hours of it starting, the fire spread to nearby Peregian Beach.
Entire communities were evacuated and more than 7,000 residents fled to loved ones or evacuation centres with little more than what they could fit in their car.
It was one of the first fires of what would become Australia's Black Summer.
Victim has no regrets at rebuilding
A Peregian Beach woman who lost her home said the events of September 9, 2019, would never leave her.
Pam Murphy's Plover Street home was gutted when embers rained over the township.
The 91-year-old said she had no regrets about rebuilding in the area.
"I have kept all the land sort of clear of deadwood as much [as I could] because my home backs onto the environmental park."
Remarkably, Ms Murphy's home was the only property lost in the inferno, thanks to the efforts of firefighters.
The town will mark the anniversary this Saturday with a gala charity night.
