Plans to turn the former Tommys Banglacafe premises into city centre flats have been submitted for planning approval to Edinburgh City Council.
The 9 South Charlotte Street developers - Timber Bush Associates - will change the use of the building from a restaurant to residential living in order to create three flats on the lower ground, ground and first floor flats.
When advertising the property, Orinsen said that the units occupied a desirable location on South Charlotte Street that links both Princes Street and George Street.
The property is situated nearby to the recently opened Johnnie Walker Whisky Experience development. And they add that the property benefits from “high pedestrian flow” as well as being nearby to retailers and amenities like KFC, Pret a Manger, Waterstones, McDonalds and Tesco Express.

The new flats will vary in size with Orinsen stating that the measurements for the ground floor were: 2,361 sq ft / 219 sqm; first Floor: 1,221 sq ft / 113 sqm; basement: 1,813 sq ft /168 sqm.
Initial plans by the architects and designers at Timber Bush Associates show the initial idea for the lay out of the ground floor flat.
The plans appear to show four bedrooms, two bathrooms, an open plan kitchen with adequate hallway space.
Access will be attained through the front entrance on South Charlotte Street and an additional entrance is found in the rear through an access lane that comes off of Rose Street Lane.
It is understood that the Edinburgh City Council is currently processing the application.
