DAVIE, Fla. _ Josh Rosen has had a whirlwind 72 hours.
The Miami Dolphins on Friday traded for Rosen, the embattled quarterback sent off by the Arizona Cardinals after they used the No. 1 pick to take Oklahoma's Kyler Murray.
Rosen shared a video on Twitter and Instagram on Saturday, expressing his gratitude to the Cardinals organization, his excitement to join the Dolphins franchise, and even joked he could hook Murray up with a sweet deal on his old Arizona apartment.
Rosen later spent his last hours in Arizona that day, participating in Larry Fitzgerald's celebrity softball event to benefit Fitzgerald's foundation, where he won the home-run derby and received a standing ovation from fans in attendance.
Rosen flew to South Florida on Sunday night, and reported to Dolphins headquarters on Monday morning ready to change the negative perception of his play and personality, while competing for Miami's starting quarterback job this season and in the future.
"You rarely get a second chance to make a first impression," Rosen said during his introductory news conference with the Dolphins. "I'm trying to get off on the right foot."
Rosen, the No. 10 pick in the draft last year, was acquired in a draft-day trade on Friday.
Miami traded their second-round pick (No. 48) and a fourth-round pick to the New Orleans Saints, turning it into a later second-round pick (No. 62) they flipped for Rosen, a sixth-round pick this year, and a second-round pick in the 2020 draft.
"It felt like I got drafted twice," Rosen said with a laugh.
Rosen, a former UCLA standout, will command just $6.28 million for the next three seasons.
Rosen has a chance to be the Dolphins' starting quarterback in Week 1 if he beats out 14-year veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick for the job.
"On paper I am," Rosen said when asked about being Miami's backup at the moment. "But Coach (Brian) Flores says we don't have a starter right now."
Beyond next season _ as the face of the Dolphins franchise in the future _ Rosen provides both hope and uncertainty.
Flores and general manager Chris Grier were quick to temper those expectations.
Rosen did, too.
But he did not shy away from the question quarterbacks should answer about themselves when he met with local media on Monday.
"Yes," Rosen said when asked if he could be a franchise guy, "because I think I am a good quarterback, and I think I am a good leader."
