New Disney Plus F1 docuseries will be fronted by surprising Hollywood A-lister

Strap yourselves in for some high-octane thrills ’n’ spills as Disney Plus prepares to send Netflix to the back of the starting grid with a new Formula 1 show all of its own.

An exciting as-yet-untitled F1 docuseries is screeching into view - and it’s fronted by a rather surprising Hollywood A-lister.

None other than Keanu Reeves will host the four-part show, after being inspired by the success of an F1 British team more than a decade ago.

The Matrix and John Wick star was gripped by the incredible story of Brawn GP - who came out of nowhere to clinch the F1 title in 2009 with drivers Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello.

The series will chronicle the adventure right from the start, with owner Ross Brawn buying the Honda team all the way through to the outfit's championship win.

Reeves has already been pictured at Silverstone where he has been busy interviewing people for the series.

It is believed Ross Brawn will feature along with Jenson Button, the World Champion who drove the team to victory.

Variety reported that Reeves spoke to local journalists about the project at this year’s British Grand Prix.

Keanu said: “A friend of mine was telling me the story (about Brawn) and I was so struck by it. He (my friend) was actually working for Brawn back in the day in publicity. He’s a producer/director and so we were like ‘Well let’s tell that story, let’s try to tell that story”.

He went on to say: “It’s been really great to be able to learn more about what was going on in Formula One that year. It wasn’t just the cars, new regulations, FOTA [the Formula One Teams Association] breakaway series.

“I mean there was just so much happening in Formula One at that time. The world of F1 was just extraordinary. I mean, it’s always extraordinary, but in that year with Brawn GP I think something really special happened.”

Disney Plus is yet to conform a release date for the series, but insiders believe it should be out next year.
