The Magpies have been monitoring his progress this term and feel he has a chance and have handed him a deal until 2022.

After signing the new deal, Cass said: "I'm delighted. It's everything a local lad dreams of to sign a new contract with Newcastle United.

"I'm thankful for the club, staff and players that have helped me get to this position.
