Alexandria residents have the chance to give their pads a refresh, with a new social enterprise offering handmade homeware.
The Design House, based at Loch Lomond Galleries, opened last Thursday (July 29), and showcases a range of stunning, unique homeware – which can be tailored to suit almost any style.
Supported by youth charity Tullochan, who already run The Common Good Café in Broadmeadow Industrial Estate and monthly pop-up retail outlet Fashion Fix at Loch Lomond Galleries, the new shop and workshop will provide workplace opportunities for young people aged16 to 25 locally.
Manager, Bonhill’s Hannah Shields, explained more about what the new store has to offer.
She said: “We offer a fully run bespoke services area, tailoring anything to your taste and home palette.
“We offer any colour and any fabric so you can have your home, your way.
“If you come and visit our beautiful homeware store in the Loch Lomond galleries you can see us sewing up our products in our in-store studio.
“We are always on hand to alter products to your style, or create bespoke products for you.
Youth unemployment rocketed by 65 percent in West Dunbartonshire during the Covid-19 lockdown according to figures from the Office of National Statistics (ONS), with hopes high that Tullochan’s projects can help more young people into work.
Tullochan established a training academy in the Lomond Galleries in 2020 with a focus on providing support and opportunities for local youngsters.
