New Abbey bowler Christine Tennant crowned Scottish champion

New Abbey Bowling Club’s Christine Tennant has been crowned Scottish champion.

She defeat Eileen McEwan of Lanark Thistle 21-16 to lift the ladies over-55s singles title.

It was almost a double success for Dumfries and Galloway as Auchencairn’s Scott McCubbin made the men’s over-55s final but was beaten by Ian Thorburn of West Barns.

The Dalbeattie Bowling Club team of Anne Tait, Kathleen Harper, Margaret Cochrane and Madge Marshall made the quarter-finals of the rinks competition.
