New £1.1m home for Rodgers Plant Hire

Privately-owned Rodgers Plant Hire has completed a £1.1m project to create a new fit-for-purpose headquarters, doubling the size of its operations and creating new jobs.

The Holmfirth-based business has now moved to a 1.7-acre site less than one mile from its former site at Honley which will allow for the renting, storage and sale of construction equipment.

The investment was supported by a £500,000 commercial loan from NatWest, which enabled the completion of the works last month.

Rodgers Plant Hire had outgrown its former premises due to increasing customer demand.

The firm required additional outdoor space to store its vast catalogue of equipment, as well as a bigger office to accommodate its operational team.

First established in the 1940s by the grandfather of the current managing director, Simon Rodgers, the business traded in steam powered construction equipment. Nearly 80 years later, the business continues to grow and prides itself on supporting local businesses.

The business employs 15 full-time staff and will initially create an additional two new jobs as part of its expansion.

Simon said: “After outgrowing our old premises, we began looking at locations and designs for a new fit-for-purpose location here in Huddersfield.

“The funding from NatWest has supported our investment and helped us drive forward our expansion plans, allowing us to meet customer demand and create new jobs in the process.”

Steve Mayor, relationship director at NatWest, said: “Rodgers Plant Hire is a great example of a local family-run business.

“Since the 1940s, the business has seen tremendous growth from its humble beginnings and is now achieving impressive growth.

“The funding we delivered has provided a strong foundation for expansion and we look forward to supporting the business as it moves forwards.”
