Netflix viewers cancelling dates to binge-watch 'heartbreaking' new series Unbelievable

Netflix fans have found their latest binge-watching obsession in the form of new drama series Unbelievable.

The show, which is a true story, follows the tale of 18-year-old Marie Adler who was charged with the false reporting of a rape after withdrawing her claim under police pressure.

Viewers are absolutely gripped, with one saying they have cancelled dates to stay home and watch episodes of the series back to back.

One tweeted: "I've cancelled on a date and left three loads of laundry unattended for six hours because I can't stop watching #Unbelievable on Netflix ."

"Cannot even describe how incredible #Unbelievable on @NetflixUK is! 100% recommend," another posted.

A third agreed: "I can't recommend #Unbelievable on Netflix enough. It's riveting, frustrating, incredibly affecting and the acting is outrageously good. Yes it examines difficult subject matter, but it is authentic and so, so necessary."

Unbelievable is an adaption the 2015 Pulitzer Prize-Winning Article 'An Unbelievable Story of Rape'.

Marie was tied up, blindfolded and raped by a masked man who broke into her house while she slept.

When she spoke to police she was branded a liar and her rapist was allowed to roam free to attack other women.

She accepted a plea deal in 2009 after she was charged for "making a false report" and got fined.

Serial rapist Marc O'Leary attacked five other women in Colorado and Washington state after raping Maire.

He was caught in Colarado in 2011.

O'Leary was jailed for 327-and-a-half years in 2011 for the four Colarado attacks.
