Netflix has unveiled the trailer for its upcoming animated reboot of the classic sitcom Good Times, originally created by Norman Lear. The new series, produced by Seth MacFarlane and showrunner Ranada Shepard, offers a fresh perspective on the Evans family.

The R-rated trailer introduces viewers to a revamped version of the Evans family, featuring a voice cast that includes J.B. Smoove, Yvette Nicole Brown, Jay Pharoah, Marsai Martin, Gerald “Slink” Johnson, and Rashida “Sheedz” Olayiwola. The show follows cab driver Reggie and his wife Beverly, along with their children Junior, Grey, and Dalvin, as they navigate life in a Chicago housing project.

The official logline for the series reads, “An animated reboot of the Norman Lear series finds the latest generation of the Evans family facing the challenges of everyday life in a system that often feels stacked against them. Despite the obstacles they encounter, the family's bond and love for each other remain unwavering.”

The late Norman Lear, who created the original Good Times series, has given his blessing to the animated reboot and is credited as an executive producer through his Act III Productions banner. The show is also produced by Brent Miller, Steph Curry, Erick Peyton, Jeron Smith, Seth MacFarlane, and Erica Huggins.

The 10-episode first season of the animated Good Times is set to premiere on Netflix on April 12. Fans can expect a modern take on the beloved sitcom, exploring themes of family, resilience, and love in the face of adversity.
