Rooted in the reality of marriage and middle-age, Tina Fey’s Four Seasons has become a runaway success since debuting on Netflix.
It takes place across four equally beautiful locations across New York state and Puerto Rico. The cast hop from lake house to hotel to chalet every two episodes. As a result, Four Seasons’ locations will undoubtedly become part of your set-jetting bucket list.
As the name suggests, the show follows three couples across the four seasons in New York state, escaping to Puerto Rico for the summer season.
But it might not be the Big Apple that you know, as the locations are further from the city that never sleeps.
To give you a slice of New York state that you might never have seen, plus the real filming locations, and some glossy alternatives, look no further than our seasonal guide to following in the Four Seasons footsteps.
Spring: Lakehouse retreat
The news of an impending divorce is set against an incredibly idyllic backdrop. While you may not want the on-screen drama, the lake house is enviable. Various locations were used to create the lake house setting, including houses in upstate towns such as Cold Spring, Newburgh, and Fishkill; all located nearby the Hudson River.
But, the Hudson River is a far cry from waterfront haven you’d be seeking. A short trip northwards in New York state would land you in the Finger Lakes region, which is home to the Inns of Aurora Resort and Spa on the Cayuga Lake.

This collection of renovated historic buildings might not be an actual location in Four Seasons, but the elegantly dressed rooms, spa, and nature trail at this retreat will be a more than adequate substitute.
Included in your stay is a s’mores kit, telescopes and stargazing kits, and access to paddleboards and canoes. innsofaurora.com
Summer: El Conquistador in Puerto Rico

Arguably the easiest of the locations to hunt down, there is no mistaking the El Conquistador resort in Puerto Rico, with its gorgeous views of the Caribbean seafront and its long stretches of white sand.
The 677 room resort is the ideal place to unwind and indulge. It has the private 100-acre white sand Palomino Island, a water park, the Vita Spa, and an 18-hole Arthur Hills golf course.
And if you’re taking a leaf out of Nick and Ginny’s book, it is also the perfect place to simply frolic in the sea.

Autumn: Back to school
Autumn turns back the clocks in a trip to the group’s alma mata. The college in question is Vassar College in Poughkeepsie. Yes, it’s an elite liberal arts institution set on the lushest of campuses, but not necessarily one for the top of anybody’s holiday bucket list.

Luckily the Hudson Valley is home to a vast number of hotels, including the Mohonk Mountain House. The hotel is set on a mountain preserve and looks magical from dusk to dawn. Its gently lit bedrooms glimmer across the lakes reflection, with dark mahoghany pieces setting the tone in the bedrooms.
Though you won’t spend long in the room with the number of activities on offer, such as yoga, archery, horse riding, and wine tasting. If its an escape to nature and homemade lavender honey that you’re after, then Mohonk is the place.

Winter: New York’s ski scene
The US may only just be cottoning on to apres ski, but the snowy, family-owned ski area Mount Peter in Warwick may just convince you that this valley is as good as Verbier.
Mount Peter is the oldest operating ski area in New York state and the real set for episodes seven and eight of Four Seasons, with plenty of inns and bed and breakfasts recently pitching up nearby.
Hilton, Holiday Inn, Wyndham, and Marriott all have properties near the slopes, but if you really want to embody the clan in Four Seasons, Glenmere Mansion Hotel is located an 18-minute drive from Mount Peter.
The Tuscan mansion may be more about spa than ski, but it would make an unforgettable romantic getaway that would likely be much happier than the group’s trip!
