Netflix REMOVES Apple AirPlay support - but there's an important reason why

It’s one of the most popular streaming services around, but Netflix has just made it much harder for Apple fans to use.

Netflix has removed support for Apple AirPlay, meaning users can no longer cast TV programmes and films from their iPhones to their TVs.

The change was first reported by MacRumours, and is allegedly linked to a firmware update that will see Apple send content directly to 2019 TVs.

In an official statement on the change, a spokesperson for Netflix said: “We want to make sure our members have a great Netflix experience on any device they use.

Google Home owners can now speak to John Legend - here's how

“With AirPlay support rolling out to third-party devices, there isn’t a way for us to distinguish between devices (what is an Apple TV vs. what isn’t) or certify these experiences.

“Therefore, we have decided to discontinue Netflix AirPlay support to ensure our standard of quality for viewing is being met.

“Members can continue to access Netflix on the built-in app across Apple TV and other devices.”

On Netflix's website, it now advises iOS users to connect to a TV using Chromecast, Netflix 2nd Screen or a physical cable.
