Netflix release stunning first look at new Bridgerton season starring Irish actress Nicola Coughlan

Netflix have unveiled the first look at the upcoming season of their hugely-popular series Bridgerton, which will star Derry Girls actress Nicola Coughlan.

The third season of regency romance series will focus on the love story between Luke Newton's Colin Bridgerton and Coughlan's Penelope Featherington as she continues to lead a double life as Lady Whistledown. There will be a whole new host of twists for Penelope, as she will step into the spotlight as season's romantic heroine alongside her love interest Colin Bridgerton.

In the aftermath of Bridgerton Season 2, Penelope is left heartbroken after overhearing Colin's very public rejection of her. The upcoming season finds the her as she’s finally given up her crush on Colin.

She is instead focusing on finding a husband who will respect her independence so she may continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, away from her mother and sisters. Due to her lack of confidence, however, her search doesn’t go so well.

Meanwhile, Colin is back from his summer travels with a new look and major swagger. He is disheartened to learn that Penelope, the one person who always appreciated him as he was, is giving him the cold shoulder.

Eager to win back her friendship, Colin helps Penelope boost her confidence so as to attract the perfect husband. But when his lessons start working a little too well, Colin is faced with figuring out what his true feelings for his friend really are.

The streamer released the first photos of Bridgerton season 3 at Netflix’s Tudum fan event on Saturday.
