A Netflix musical about the life of Princess Diana has been named the worst film of the year.

Diana the Musical scooped five “wins” at the Razzie Awards including worst picture and worst actress for Jeanna de Waal, who played the late Princess of Wales.

The Golden Raspberry Awards, now in its 42nd year, hands out gongs for what are deemed to be lowlights of the Hollywood year.

It is an annual awards ceremony that celebrates the worst in movies.

A filmed version of a Broadway musical based on the life of Diana, Princess of Wales led this year’s nominations, earning a total of nine nods in major categories including worst picture, worst actor, worst actress and worst director.

It was originally performed at the Longacre Theatre in New York before a filmed version was released on Netflix in October last year.

The Razzies described the film as an “all-singing, all-dancing, all-awful, royal mess.”

Basketball star LeBron James picked up the award for worst actor for his role in Space Jam: A New Legacy.

The critically-panned basketball movie also took home the awards for “Worst Remake, Rip Off or Sequel” and worst on-screen couple.

Jared Leto received worst supporting actor for his performance as Paolo Gucci in Ridley Scott’s House Of Gucci.

A new “special” category was also introduced at this year’s awards: Worst Performance By Bruce Willis In A 2021 Movie.

The actor went up against himself eight times within the category for films including American Siege, Apex, Cosmic Sin, Deadlock and Out Of Death.

The winners were announced on March 26, a day prior to the Academy Awards.
