Netflix is making a big-budget FPS game for PC

Netflix’s games development segment has been quiet for the most part aside from acquiring a few studios, but that seems likely to change soon, with a big-budget FPS PC game apparently in the works. The streaming giant recently posted a job ad (first spotted by MobileGamer.biz) looking for a game director with “experience with FPS and/or Third Person Shooter games” and comfort leading the creative vision for a new project.

Netflix seemingly has big ambitions for the project and promises candidates they won’t have to worry about cost restraints.

“Creating a great game that players want to come back to repeatedly is our primary goal – you will be able to create, ship and run a game without any competing design constraints due to monetization,” the job description reads.

Despite the game being a shooter game, Netflix envisions a heavy emphasis on story and wants the director to help create “world/characters/narrative that are worthy of a Netflix film/TV series.”

Whether that means the plan is turning it into a Netflix series is uncertain, but the plan is likely to change quite a bit along the way anyhow. They need someone with experience building a team from the ground up, so whatever the project is, it’s still very early in the stages of planning and development.

If you’re looking for more games-related goodness on Netflix, Dragon Age Absolution, the Dragon Age anime, will air on Dec. 9, 2022, on the platform.
