Netflix drop trailer for new film based on Roberto Baggio - and it looks incredible

Netflix has unveiled a teaser trailer for a new sports film based on legendary Italian striker Roberto Baggio.

Baggio: The Divine Ponytail, also known as Il Divin Codino (which is just "The Divine Ponytail") in Italian, lands on the streaming service on May 26.

The feature is a chronicle of the 22-year career of Baggio, including his difficult debut as a player and his deep rifts with some of his coaches.

It'll star Andrea Arcangeli as the attacker, and will 'look at key moments from his 22-year career'.

There certainly isn't a lack of those for the filmmakers to have focused on.

Hopefully, for Irish fans sake, there won't be too much focus on his role in the goal that ended our dreams at Italia 90.

Instead, we're expecting a glimpse at his missed penalty kick in the 1994 World Cup final shootout against Brazil.

The incredible drama which surrounded his move from Fiorentina to Juventus or maybe even his flirtation with both clubs in Milan.

Of course, the 'Divine Ponytail' nickname comes from his iconic hairstyle and Buddhist beliefs.

You can see the full teaser trailer released by Netflix below.

We've already seen how brilliant sports series on Netflix can be.

The lookback on the career of Michael Jordan, The Last Dance, was one of the best shows to binge during the first lockdown 12 months ago.

We've also had Last Chance U and, most recently, a film about the greatest footballer alive, Pelé
