Nestlé, Iceland, Amazon, Wish, and Sainsbury's recall products over safety concerns

Nestlé UK, Iceland, Amazon, Wish, and Sainsbury's have all recalled items in recent days due to health and safety concerns. While some products have been recalled due to the presence of undeclared allergens, Trading Standards has found that other products recalled presented a risk of choking.

When a product is recalled for any reason, Trading Standards will share details on what you should do if you have bought the item as well as information on why the product is being recalled. Here are the products that have been recalled in the past week.

Aero Hot Chocolate products

Aero - Hot Chocolate (Trading Standards)

Nestlé UK is taking a precautionary step of recalling Aero Hot Chocolate products because the company says a small number of packs may contain small pieces of food-grade silica beads, making them unsafe to eat. Products include hot chocolate jars (288g), 'Hot Choc' sachets, and Aero Go Instant 'Hot Choc' products.

The advice to customers from Trading Standards states that those who have bought the products should not eat them and should instead dispose of the contents, send the lid of the jar, the empty sachet or the sleeve of the cups (cardboard of plastic 8-sleeve) with your name and address for a full refund to Aero Hot Chocolate Recall, PO BOX 205, Freepost 1374, York, YO91 1XB. Consumers with any concerns can call Nestlé UK free on 00800 63785385.

Iceland Takeaway Pilau Rice

Iceland Foods is recalling Iceland Takeaway Pilau Rice because it contains egg, sesame, soya and wheat, which are not mentioned on the label. The product has been incorrectly packed with egg fried rice, meaning there is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to egg and/or wheat (gluten) and/or an allergy to sesame and/or soya. The recall affects the 350g Iceland Takeaway Pilau Rice with a best before date of January 10, 2024.

The product contains egg, sesame, soya and wheat making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to egg, wheat (gluten), sesame, or soya. Iceland Foods Ltd has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.

Sainsbury's - All Season Camo Padded Children's Slippers

Sainsbury's - All Season Camo Padded Children's Slippers (Trading Standards)

Sainsbury's Tu has recalled the All Season Camo Padded Children's Slippers (SKUs 140791908 140791916 140829099 140791924 140791932 140830559 140791895) as the product has been identified as presenting a serious risk of choking as the toggle can detach from the slippers producing a small part. It does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.

Wangzhihe (WZH White Bean Curd)

Wangzhihe (WZH White Bean Curd) (Trading Standards)

The Food Standards Agency has issued a notice about the recall of WZH White Bean Curd, stating that Interlink Direct Ltd is taking the precautionary step of recalling the product, because Bacillus cereus has been found in some batches of this product, making it unsafe to eat. All 240g products with the best before date of August 28, 2023 have been recalled.

Symptoms caused by Bacillus cereus can include abdominal pain, stomach cramping, watery diarrhoea, nausea and vomiting. Customers are advised not to eat the above product and to return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. Customers have been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall. Trading Standards has advised that if you have bought any of the above products and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents do not drink them.

Skycase - Magnetic Arithmetic Educational Toy

Skycase - Magnetic Arithmetic Educational Toy (Trading Standards)

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has recalled the Skycase 2pcs Magnetic Arithmetic Educational Toy, which has been removed from Amazon. The product has been identified as presenting a high risk of choking and internal injuries as the discs are small parts as received.

The magnetic toy was also found to have a magnetic flux index of 156.66 KG²mm², greater than the maximum permissible level of 50 KG²mm². Small, high-powered magnetic products can be easily swallowed and, when ingested, have the potential to cause serious internal injuries within the gastrointestinal tract. The product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011, the OPSS has said.

The OPSS has recalled this Abree magnetic fishing game from the online marketplace (Amazon) as it has been identified as presenting a risk of choking as small parts can easily be produced during the use of the product. The product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.

Shenzhen Putuo Technology Co Ltd - power adapter (Trading Standards)

The OPSS says this product "presents a serious risk of electric shock as the mains plug module did not meet the dimensional requirements of the relevant standard, BS 1363, meaning the user could access live parts when plugging in, or unplugging, the plug from the socket. "

The product also possessed insufficient insulation required for Class II equipment and there was insufficient creepage and clearance distance between the mains potential input circuits and low voltage output circuits for Class II equipment. It does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 or the Plugs & Sockets (Safety) Regulations 1994.

The recall affects models BP1908-PD+QC; BP1908-PD; PT-WC-2S and Amazon ASIN B0BD77TXDH, B0B7J62MX6, B09MLRSTKX. The listing has been removed by the online marketplace (Amazon) and the OPSS recommends owners stop using this product immediately and to contact the distributor you purchased from to request redress.

The OPSS has recalled the Cartoon Duck Rowing Boat Floating Bath Toy Baby Early Educational Toy Bath Funny Toy (Wish ID 6011ea3a1e968da73cb2178) from the online marketplace, stating that the product presents a high risk of choking as the red plastic handle for pulley detached at forces less than 90 N, creating a small part which fits wholly into a small parts cylinder. The product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.

The EDC Fidget Magnet Toy has been recalled from Wish (ID 5b8a14887e0bdd459f657314) as it has been identified as presenting a serious risk of choking and internal injuries due to the presence of small parts as received. The magnetic toy was also found to have a magnetic flux index of 1926.57 kG² mm², greater than the maximum permissible level of 50 kG² mm². The product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011. It has been removed from Wish's website.

Light Up Bath Toy - Wish

Light Up Bath Toy (Trading Standards)

A Light Up Bath Toy (ID 5f29312621dcb000504a1f2e) has been removed from Wish as it presents a serious risk of choking. The blue plastic battery cover detaches at a force less than 90 N exposing a metal spring with a 10.55 mm cross section, in excess of the 2 mm limit. The collar around wheels is also removable, the bogey wheel cover detaches at a force of 21.3 N producing small parts which fit into a small parts test cylinder. A young infant could place these parts in their mouth and choke, the OPSS has said. The product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.

The 26 Pieces Magnetic Fishing Game (ID 60efa5294022db839e6067de) has been recalled from Wish as the product has been identified as presenting a high risk of choking and internal injuries. The magnetic toy was also found to have a magnetic flux index of up to 137.72 kG²mm², greater than the maximum permissible level of 50 kG²mm². The product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.

Soft Filled Pink Long Arm Monkey - Wish

Three out of 10 of the tested components were also found to have a magnetic flux index more than the maximum permitted of 50 kG² mm². The product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011 and has been removed from Wish.

Small parts can easily be produced from the propellor and clasp on the helmet. The product also does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011, the OPSS notice says.

Wish has removed the Seven Colours Magnetic Putty (ID 581f917f1bf30d59188b51d2) from its website as it has been identified as presenting a high risk of choking and internal injuries as the small magnetic cube and plastic eyes are small parts as received.

The magnetic cube was also found to have a magnetic flux index of up to 888.14 kG² mm², greater than the maximum permissible level of 50 kG² mm². The product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011 and has been removed from Wish's marketplace.

The product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011 and it has been removed from Wish's website.
