NEOM Launches Academy in Tabuk

During the signing ceremony to launch NEOM Academy (Asharq Al-Awsat)

NEOM, and Tabuk and Fahad bin Sultan universities signed an agreement to launch NEOM Academy in partnership with the University of Tabuk and the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC).

The Academy aims to develop the national manpower and create thousands of jobs for local communities so that they can be an effective part of Vision 2030.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Emir of Tabuk Region, Prince Fahd bin Sultan, CEO of NEOM project Engineer Nazmi al-Nasr, as well as the presidents of the two universities.

Prince Fahd bin Sultan said during the inauguration ceremony that there is a responsibility to implement the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to ensure a better life for the people of Tabuk.

The Prince pointed out that the signed agreements aim to invest in the region’s young men and women so that they implement projects.

He considered Sunday’s event a “historic occasion” for Tabuk and especially for the citizens of coastal areas, who are a priority in these programs.

Nasr stated that Tabuk residents are the primary partners in the project and will be a priority in the recruitment process.

Nasr explained that the academy will receive in its first year 1,000 students from the region for training in several fields that support important sectors in NEOM such as energy, tourism, transportation, and others.

He added that the academy will work to attract more male and female students every year until it reaches the target number of training 6,000 individuals, who will then be employed.

The announcement is only part of multiple social responsibility programs that aim to provide suitable job opportunities in NEOM, according to Nasr.

He announced 500 new scholarships during the next five years as part of the internal scholarship program in partnership with Fahad bin Sultan University, as well as adding more majors in all programs.

The academy will cooperate with University of Tabuk in research and development to contribute to building a solid Saudi knowledge-based economy.
