Neo-Nazi Who Joined Rally At NSW Parliament Has His Visa Cancelled: ‘Time To Go Home’

The Federal Government has cancelled the visa of neo-Nazi Matthew Gruter after he was pictured at the antisemitic rally outside NSW Parliament earlier this month.

Gruter, who was among the 60 black-clad neo-Nazis who stood outside Parliament’s Macquarie Street gates while holding a banner targeting “the Jewish lobby” and chanting antisemitic slogans on November 9, could be sent back to South Africa following the visa decision.

“If you are on a visa you are a guest,” Immigration Minister Tony Burke said, per the Sydney Morning Herald. “If you’re a citizen, you’re a full member of the Australian family.

“Like with any household, if a guest turns up to show hatred and wreck the household, they can be told it’s time to go home.”

Gruter has lived in Australia with his influencer wife for the past three years and works as a civil engineer.

The Department of Home Affairs drafted a brief for the Albanese Government to examine Gruter’s visa after he was identified by Sydney Morning Herald and White Rose Society researchers.

“The Australian Government will continue to act decisively to protect the community from the risk of harm posed by individuals who choose to engage in criminal activity or behaviour of concern,” a Home Affairs spokesman said in a statement.

Gruter was previously photographed leading training sessions for the National Socialist Network, an openly racist extremist group monitored by law enforcement and intelligence agencies. In separate images with his pregnant wife, he is seen wearing a silver wristband reserved for the group’s leaders, engraved with the Hitler Youth motto “blood and honour”.

When contacted by the SMH about his role in the rally, Gruter replied: “Since when is loving and advocating for your own People [sic] a crime?”

The SMH has also identified several other NSN members involved in the “Abolish the Jewish Lobby” stunt outside parliament, including Sydney Trains worker Cooper Stephens who was subsequently stood down by his employer.

“The employee’s role is frontline and his actions are not supported by Sydney Trains or Transport for NSW and are not in line with public sector values,” Sydney Trains said, per SMH.

“In the interim, Sydney Trains has directed the employee not to attend work while the matter is examined,” it added.
