Neil Lennon blasts SFA 'shambles' as Celtic boss demands answers over David Turnbull Covid issues

Neil Lennon insists questions must be asked over the SFA's handling of internationals after David Turnbull tested positive for Covid-19.

Turnbull has been forced into self-isolation after testing positive for the virus after the international break and he's the second Celtic player to return from Scotland duty with an issue.

Ryan Christie had to isolate for two weeks after being deemed a close contact of Stuart Armstrong during the last international break.

And Lennon isn't happy with the news about Turnbull and described the situation surround the SFA as a 'shambles' and wants more done.

He told BBC Sportsound: “We do. The whole Ryan Christie last time, now we have an issue with another one of our players.

“It’s not good enough. Shambles.

“We’re doing all we can with our protocol and health and safety. We work very hard to keep our bubble secure. That’s a question that needs to have asked the SFA."

Turnbull is one of three Scotland U21 players to test positive while eight more have been deemed as close contacts and Lennon can't understand it.

He added: “One of our players going on international duty and picking up something which is bitterly disappointing from our point of view.

“We only became aware of it yesterday and David is self-isolating now. We hope he’s going to be okay and he gets through it quickly but it’s just not good enough from our point of view.

“He was tested twice, we’ve all been tested twice this week again. We became aware of it yesterday so it’s bitterly disappointing.

“We know there’s some others among the U21s who have it as well.

“We haven’t had any. None at all. It’s all been outwith the bubble when people have been away on international duty.

“We were ravaged after the last one. This one is disappointing but thankfully the majority of them have come back fit and healthy."
