'NCIS' creator Donald P. Bellisario parts with scenic Montecito estate

Feb. 10--Legendary television producer and writer Donald P. Bellisario has sold an estate in Montecito for the asking price of $5.895 million.

Built in 1989, the vine-wrapped French Regency-style home fronts the private Birnam Wood course on more than an acre with fairway, greenbelt and mountain views.

Entered through glass double doors, the multilevel house has a foyer, formal living and dining rooms and a sun room. A chef's kitchen with a center island and a breakfast area opens to the family room.

Three bedrooms, four bathrooms, four fireplaces and a powder room are within more than 4,500 square feet.

There's also a detached guest house with a living room and bedroom en suite and a bonus area above the garage. A stairway conceals a separate storage area and wine room.

French doors open to a patio, pool deck and lap swimming pool. A motor court sits off the entrance to the home.

Bellisario, 80, is the co-creator of and writer for such television series as "Magnum P.I.," "Quantum Leap," "JAG" and "NCIS." He wrote and directed the 1988 thriller "Last Rites."

He bought the property eight years ago for $4.2 million, records show.

Barbara Koutnik of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage was the listing agent. Cristal Clarke of Sotheby's International Realty represented the buyer.
