NBA teams will wear a black band on jerseys to pay tribute to David Stern

The NBA world is mourning the loss of former commissioner David Stern, who died Wednesday at the age of 77, weeks after suffering a brain hemorrhage. Stern will be remembered as one of the most influential people in NBA history, and was instrumental in driving the growth of the game around the world.

For the rest of the season, NBA teams and referees will be paying tribute to Stern by wearing a black band on their uniforms, according to an announcement by the league on Friday. Players will be wearing their updated jerseys for the first time on Friday night.
