NBA players react on Twitter to Westbrook’s historic 20-20-20 game

Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook recorded just the second game in NBA history on Tuesday night with at least 20 points, 20 assists and 20 rebounds.

Westbrook finished with 20 points, 21 assists and 20 rebounds to lead the Thunder to a 119-103 win over the Los Angeles Lakers to become the first player since Wilt Chamberlain in 1968 to post such numbers.

Westbrook tied a Thunder franchise record by dishing out 10 assists alone in the first quarter while he also pulled down seven rebounds in the opening frame. By halftime, Westbrook was up to 14 assists.

The performance by Westbrook promptly set Twitter on fire as fans, media members and even NBA players took notice of his historic game. Afterward, Westbrook was the top-trending topic on Twitter.

The first 20-20-20 game in NBA history occurred when Chamberlain had 22 points, 25 rebounds and 21 assists on Feb. 2, 1968. So, for that record to stand for 51 years without being touched goes to show just how impressive Westbrook’s performance was on Tuesday.

The game by Westbrook will likely be one that lives on for quite some time and it will be one that everyone remembers what they were doing when it happened. To see the reaction that other NBA players had to his performance just goes to show how rare of an accomplishment it was.
