Jan. 17--CBS Sports analyst Greg Anthony was arrested Friday night on suspicion of solicitation of a prostitute in Washington, D.C., police confirmed to the Los Angeles Times.
Anthony, 47, was being held in the District 2 station, police said. He was released late Friday night.
CBS announced Saturday that Anthony will not work again for the network this season and that he has been suspended indefinitely. Anthony, a former star guard at Nevada Las Vegas and an 11-year NBA veteran, was scheduled to broadcast Saturday's Michigan State-Maryland game on CBS.
The New York Knicks selected Anthony with the 12th overall pick of the NBA draft in 1991. He won an NCAA title with UNLV in 1990.
Anthony played four seasons with the Knicks before two with the Vancouver Grizzlies, one with the Seattle SuperSonics, three with the Portland Trail Blazers and one last season split between the Chicago Bulls and Milwaukee Bucks.
He averaged 7.3 points, four assists and 1.2 steals a game, primarily as a backup point guard.
Following his retirement in 2002, Anthony joined ESPN to do commentary for ESPN and ABC Sports. In 2008 he joined CBS Sports.
