NBA 2K26 MyCAREER: Out of Bounds Takes Players to Europe

The MyCareer story in the NBA 2K games has always been the hook that is meant to draw players into its headliner single-player career mode, and this year, 2K is putting a cinematic stamp on the mode. The newly released trailer for NBA 2K26: Out of Bounds makes it clear that MyCareer is leaning heavily into the drama of professional basketball. And to drive that point home, Spike Lee himself lends his voice to the first look of the mode, marking his return to the franchise after directing the divisive Livin’ Da Dream storyline back in NBA 2K16.

The Return Of MP

The footage begins on draft night, one of the most recognizable MyCareer setups. The suspense builds as the Golden State Warriors make their pick, a moment designed to remind players of the ultimate dream scenario: Hearing their name called on the biggest stage. It’s a familiar way to open the story, but the trailer pivots to the process behind that moment rather than letting players sit in the fantasy for too long.

Once again, the central character in MyCareer is MP, whose face scan looks oddly like a mixture of Anthony Edwards and Giannis Antetokounmpo. The trailer shows him working in the gym, competing against local standouts, and expressing frustration at being overlooked in a small-town setting. The narrative indicates that MP wants bigger opportunities and knows he needs to go where scouts can actually see him.

That sets the stage for Los Angeles, where MP connects with an agency representative who offers blunt advice: If he wants to develop, the next stop is pro ball in Europe.

European Ball Is Back

The suggestion of playing in Europe is the most intriguing element of the Out of Bounds trailer. MyCareer has often marketed the idea of multiple paths, but in practice, most of them have funneled players toward the same NBA destination. Introducing Europe as the pathway this year gives players an opportunity to experience a different environment than what they might be used to. It mirrors the routes of several current NBA stars who honed their game overseas before coming Stateside. And, for me personally, I’ve been waiting for the return of the EuroLeague in NBA 2K for a while.

Overall, the presence of Europe is merely a small wrinkle in this year’s MyCareer, as I expect the mode to play similarly to past iterations. We’re still waiting on the Courtside Report deep dive for MyCareer in NBA 2K26, so expect a better breakdown once that is out.
